Amazon UK have today changed the release date for the HTC Hero to August 15th.

Available to pre-order at £429.99, the SIM free HTC Hero was originally listed for release on July 15th, but over the last few weeks the proposed release date has been changed to July 24th, and now more recently August 15th.

Orange UK are expected to offer the HTC Hero to customers from this month, there has been no officialy confirmation of a delay from the network thus far.

Carphone Warehouse have updated their UK website with a ‘Coming Soon’ page for the HTC Hero. Whilst this in itself isn’t a surprise, the page suggests that the mobile phone retailer are planning to offer the HTC Hero in Pink.

It isn’t yet clear whether the Pink HTC Hero will be an exclusive for Carphone (just like the Graphite HTC Hero is to Orange), or whether the image is just a mistake.

The HTC Hero page offers a release date of July which matches up with all the recent news and rumours we’ve been hearing recently about the handset.

Orange UK have now listed the HTC Hero handset on their official online shop.

Under the heading of ‘coming soon’, the HTC Hero in graphite is pictured next to a small introduction of the handset along with a rundown of the phone’s most prominent features.

The website also offers a variety of different shots of the Hero, along with an in-depth specification of the handset.

Availability and pricing details for the HTC Hero from Orange are expected to be released shortly. Orange UK have previously announced that the Hero phone will be launched during July and will be available free to new customers as part of a 2-year monthly contract with the network.
